ADRIANA DELGADO
Birthday April 2, 1979 "Aries"
Height 5'5
Bantamweight - 118lbs.
Homwtown- Albuquerque, NM

Adriana was not interested in sports at a young age, taking up ballet at the age of ten. Adriana's older brother, Mario Delgado Jr., took up boxing when he was 11, where Adriana would follow him to the gym. Adriana would also watch boxing on television with her father. while watching boxing Adriana became fascinated with Julio Caesar Chavez, Chavez inspired Adriana to want to give boxing a try, but it wouldn't come easy. Adriana's parents were against her fighting because they felt it wasn't a sport for women.

After a year of pleading with her parents, Adriana's parents told her she could try kickboxing thinking the roughness would scare her away. Training for 2 years and unable to get matched up, she persuaded her parents to finally let her try boxing. Finding it difficult to get fights, Adriana went 2-0 in her short amateur career. Adriana decided to turn Professional.

In December of 1998, Adriana made her Pro Debut, under trainer Melcor Chavez against Monica Ramirez, stopping Ramirez in the first round, from there Adriana reeled off 3 straight wins, defeating Deanna Wyman, Imelda Arias, and Elisha Olivas. In Adriana's 5th fight she was matched up against Jayla Oritz. Ortiz's experience made the difference in the fight as Adriana looked to land the big punch, while Ortiz boxed her way to victory, taking a unanimous decision over Adriana.

Fighting Imelda Arias for the second time, this time Arias would not see the final bell, as Adriana stopped her in the second round. In Adriana's next bout she took on Lelani Salazer. Adriana suffered a shut left eye early in the bout. The eye progressively got worst as the fight progressed causing Adriana's corner to halt the fight after the fifth round.

Adriana got back on the winning track after decisioning Marsha Budde and Bertha Gonzales. Bringing her record to 7-2.

Feeling her skills not progressing, Adriana decided to change trainers. Adriana chose the services of trainer Fred Esquibel.

In Adriana 1st bout with Esquibel, Adriana took on Monica Michel, in a bout where Adriana gives Michel credit for being an aggressive and heart felt opponent. Adriana felt in her heart that the fight should of been a draw, but the judges felt Adriana had done enough to edge Michel taking a unanimous decision.

Four months later, Delgado and Michel would rematch. This time the fight would be a draw in which Adriana felt this one should of been a win for her.

From there Adriana regrouped fighting possibly her best fight to date in her career. Easily defeating Tracy Moulton. Adriana showed all her skills by boxing and overwhelming Moulton with left hooks, defeating Moulton with a unanimous decision.

With a victory over Moulton, Adriana was now in line for a World Title shot. In September of 2002, Adriana was given the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, a World Title shot and the chance to avenge her loss to Jayla Ortiz, but it was not meant to be at this time. While in the dressing room preparing for the bout, a police officer entered her dressing room to inform Adriana that Ortiz had been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Adriana would wait another day for a world title.

Five months later Adriana was given a 2nd opportunity for a world title. This time against former world champion, Delia Gonzalez, but once again Adriana's title shot was stalled. Two days before the fight, Adriana pulled out due to an ear infection.

Adriana would realize her dream of becoming a World Champion in May of 2003. Taking on Kathy Williams for the vacant IFBA bantamweight title. Adriana captured a unanimous decision over Williams and bringing Albuquerque, NM their 5th world champion of boxing men or women.

Adriana now looks forward to fighting the best in the world.
